About Me

Bio:

I was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, the only son of a coal mining farmboy and the prettiest girl in town. I currently live just north of Pittsburgh, PA, on a flower-filled acre-and-a-half in an old farmhouse, growing old alongside my wife, our dog, a cat, and growing piles of poems, journals, and great books.

On January 8th, 2022, I began writing as a simple practice to aid a last ditch effort at sobriety. What began as a way to steady myself soon became an outlet for decades of repressed thoughts and tempered emotions. From that, and the beautiful and painful path I've walked the last several years, I've poured forth northward of a thousand poems, a dozen or so short stories, various travel writings, and a deeply personal novel that honors the area and men that shaped me.

For me, writing has served as the key to unlock the myriad of doors that, for so long, I was afraid to open. It has given voice to all I was once afraid to say---all that I am grateful for, find beauty in; what I hide from, think of; what and whom I love and am loved by; all that I dream about and doubt and have yet to figure out.

My greatest hope from you being here is this: That you find something within my words that inspires you to change yourself or change what is within your reach for the better; to find a verse that helps you forge the will to face whatever it is that haunts you; to take something from a line that inspires you to see that, despite the sham and drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
